THE MOMENT.  The scene’s most emotionally intense moment usually motivates a close-up, a camera move, or a change in editing pace.

THE SCREEN.  Sketch or photograph how “The Moment” should appear through the camera viewfinder.

THE MAP.  Make a top-down, bird’s eye view of the set.  Where is the camera? Where are the lights?  Where are the actors?  The furniture, walls, and props?

MOVEMENT.  Sketch or photograph a screen view and bird’s-eye map of the first and last positions of any actor or camera movement.

COVERAGE.  Sketch or photograph a screen view and bird’s-eye map of a REVERSE ANGLE of the scene’s other major character(s), and an ESTABLISHING SHOT of the entire set.  Repeat for additional scenes.
