The Film: Bartertown, A Vegan Manifesto

This film posed a challenging shoot, since it revolved around a restaurant which eschewed familiar authority structures. Student filmmakers had a hard time scheduling, even deciding which of the restaurant's major players to interview – since the employees were so vigorously committed to an understanding of their workplace as an egalitarian commune. Filmmakers and design students drew from the restaurant's signature (and controversial) mural to integrate a suite of instructional effects that with the movie's credit sequence and promotional material.
