Objective:  Students will use Doucette’s G7 audio recording and editing suite to demonstrate basic understanding of multi-track recording.
Assessment:  The group grade will be averaged with other project scores.  Your professor will open one Audition .sesx file from the server.

At a minimum, the submitted Audition Multi-Track Session must have the following tracks:

  • Scratch track
  • Click Track
  • Tuning Tone (usually middle “C”)
  • 1st performer
  • 2nd performer
  • 3rd performer

Your work group will record a piece of music no less than one minute in length.  The project grade privileges the following:

  • proper equipment use
  • accurate input/output and track routing
  • adequate recording levels in the -6 to -12 dBFS range
  • a low signal-to-noise ratio (minimal hiss and ambience)
  • precise timing of discrete tracks and performances
  • a cumulative mix of channels in the -6 to -12 dBFS range

As always, you are encouraged to appreciate the difference between (a) minimally satisfying the assignment’s requirements and (b) performing with imagination, initiative, and invention.
